My newborn babies don't cry...... THEY SCREAM. Those close to me already know this but I thought it was time to share with the rest of you that my babies are hard work!

The images taken of Sonny sleeping peacefully on our bed are pretty hard to get. My babies suffer from colic, they don't sleep at night for long, they don't burp up their wind easily, they rarely poop, they like to be carried in baby slings all the time and they certainly don't entertain themselves on play mats. Weirdly enough, I am finding it much easier this time round, probably due to my husband being so amazing this time round also.

So even though the images of our first weeks together with Sonny look calm and picture perfect - I assure you they are anything but.

So..... If you are waiting on a phone call, text or email from me please be patient. I'm currently in STRUGGLE TOWN.

  1. samara wheeldon photography 365 project

Here is the last four months worth of my 'photo a day challenge'. I feel a real sense of relief that it is now over. Using my big camera to take all the images, rather than just a smart phone, is a decision I began to regret after the first week. I also found it annoying having to shoot all my images in portrait format, as that was a challenge I set myself back in January 2013.

By September I was well and truly over taking the images for this project & I very nearly gave up, the only thing that kept me motivated was knowing that I would have a new, sweet baby to document later in the year. I recently read the following document To 365 or not to 365? and I felt compelled to share with you all. The pitfalls discussed in the document are very real and they most certainly applied to me while trying to complete my 365 project.

I now know for certain that I like to take images of my family on my own terms - when feeling motivated and inspired.

A very special week this one - it was blissful celebrating Christmas this year as a family of four. It feels as if Sonny has been with us for a lifetime. I am totally smitten with him & I feel ever so grateful that he is here with us now, especially when I think back to how I was feeling this time last year.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all the best for a healthy, happy & safe new year. For those that were dealt a crap hand this year (and I know lots of you were) I wish you nothing but amazing things for 2014.

I am hoping to share the last three months worth of photos taken for my 365 project soon. I might be the only person in the whole world who feels no better for doing a 365 project. I gained little from taking a photo a day - it was a chore for me to complete the project & totally zapped my creativity. I can safely say NEVER AGAIN.

PEACE OUT
